About The Ben Chandler Gallery

The Ben Chandler Gallery is a collection of fine art paintings and mixed media artwork available for sale by Los Angeles based artist Ben Junta.   A mid-career artist, he has been making art for the past 30+ years.  Not originally intending on a career in the arts (in fact he started off playing football for Middlebury College), his art career began somewhat randomly while in college where he was fortunate enough to study basic drawing with the painter Squeak Carnwath.  It was at this point that his curiosity about all that art might be really began.   Upon graduating from Occidental College, after having matriculated at Middlebury College,  Ben went on for further study first at the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown, Mass. with Lois Griffel. He specifically attended this school due to its' long lineage in the tradition of impressionist color theory, as taught by Henry Hensche.  He later studied at the Santa Fe Art Institute with the noted colorist landscape painter Wolf Kahn.  He also studied with John Walker and Bernard Chaet at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT.    He now makes his home in Los Angeles, CA.
